Detox the healthy way.

From the day we are born, we need certain basics in order to live. Food, air, water, clothing, shelter, etc. All these things help us get on with our daily lives and until the day we die, we never stop needing these things. Now an uneducated or unaware person might think that these necessities were created equal. They are not, and some are not necessities at all, despite what some people might tell you. Many people today lead very unhealthy lifestyles. They have stressful lives and unhealthy eating habits. They may smoke and/or drink alcohol. All this adds unhealthy chemicals to the body that can lead to an untimely death. But there is hope. Even if you’ve led a not so healthy lifestyle yourself, you can stop right now, today, and begin living a healthy life. A healthy detox is a solution to take care of our body.
Healthy Detox to Deter Toxins
A healthy detox is a process of ridding the body of unhealthy chemicals and toxins that are harmful to your health. The body of a person usually works like a well-oiled machine doing this work for you without you ever having to think about it at all. The liver works to keep the body clean and prevent toxins from entering the blood stream. However, when the liver gets overworked, this process can falter, or even stop. Poor eating and lifestyle choices can wear down its natural mechanism. That’s why healthy detox is so important. A healthy detox can provide substantial benefits to your health and well-being.
Ready, Set, Detox
Preferably, a healthy detox program should last from one week to a month and not to be undertaken more than three times a year. Too much detox can have negative effects on the body and create nutritional deficiencies and imbalances. With this in mind, a healthy detox can be integrated into the normal daily routine.
Ways to have Healthy Detox
Eating a healthy diet: A healthy detox requires limiting the unhealthy foods you normally eat and instead substituting them with healthier alternatives for a healthier diet. Fresh fruits and vegetables are the main components for a healthy detox. There are also legumes, nuts, seeds and whole grains to choose from. These are foods that provide natural vitamins and minerals needed by the body and at the same time are good for the digestion. Also, it is advisable to eat more often during the day. Consuming 4-6 smaller meals or snacks at equal intervals throughout the day is optimal. And if you just have to have that unhealthy food, see if it can’t be prepared in a different way to make it less unhealthy, perhaps grilling, steaming, or baking instead of frying.
Water Therapy- Consuming 6-8 glasses of water a day is recommended. Healthy fluids can also be substituted like green teas, herbal tea and vegetable juice.
Regular exercise- You need to be moving. Sitting on the couch watching TV does nothing for your body’s health. Limit or get away from sedentary activities. Use light aerobic exercise to strengthen the heart and the lungs. Not only does it get you moving, but lots of harmful toxins can also be excreting through sweat when you work out. You often drink more water if you exercise regularly too and the more water you drink the more toxins get flushed out of your system.
Rest and sleep- Obtaining adequate rest and sleep aids the body in regeneration and its ability to restore the body to its original functioning.
Lowering alcohol drinking and smoking-It is best not to drink or smoke. These are contributory factors to an unhealthy lifestyle and they should be consumed moderately or excluded entirely if possible.
Nutritional supplements- Supplements are food enhancers which give the body the ability to process foods regularly. Multivitamins and antioxidants can be used as supplements, but should not be used as replacement for fruits and vegetables.
Good and positive outlook on life- Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is not enough; a person must also be healthy mentally. Having a positive outlook entails accepting oneself and losing things that can drag you down. Lose the negative influences and reduce your stress where possible.
As you can see, a healthy detox is a good way of not only cleansing, refreshing and strengthening the body, but also the mind. It is an important part of living a healthy lifestyle and can give you more energy, a stronger immune system, and improved bowel movements and even increases a person’s self-confidence.
